  • Week-end in Paris

Vue of theTour Eiffel from the Tuileries Carolina and I spent the last week-end of May in Paris – just wanted to spend a few days together before the baby comes. Carolina had read a good review of the “New Orient Hotel” in the New York Times, and so we decided to stay there. The hotel is small and quite well situated, the staff is amiable and it is overall quite a good value for money in Paris.

We had quite a bit of fun and walked as much as Carolina´s round belly would allow! We strolled along the river Seine at night, visited the museum Rodin (impressive!), went to the movies (if you haven’t already, you should see the latest movie from Almodovar: “Volver”, it is very good) and to the theatre (we saw “Cyrano de Bergerac“, at La Comedie Française, liked it very much, laughed wholeheartedly and highly recommend it), had wonderfull food at l’Atelier de Joël Robuchon (I would further qualify the food as surprising, a mix of traditional and trendy, very good indeed, but perhaps not the best value for money), listened to music (a classic concerto in the Place des Vosges, Jazz for brunch, and Chinese music… in the metro, station de l’Opéra!) and pretty much managed to stay away from commercial stores!

It was quite a feat and a lot of fun! If you want, you can check more of our pictures here.
